Arogya Mitram Award announced. during the Inauguration of Cancer Assistance Forum Bharain Keraleeya Samjam.
Dr V.P. Gangadharan, one of the most famous oncologists of South India will receive the first Arogya Mitram award instituted by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam. Also the newly constituted Cancer Assistance Forum will mark its inauguration. The same was declared by BKS President, PV Radhakrishna Pillai and General Secretary, Varghese Karackal in a press conference called at the BKS on 3rd October 2022. The award includes one lakh rupees, a memento and a citation.
‘Our long-standing ambition to introduce a system by which outstanding services in the medical field are respected comes true by the instituting BKS-Arogya Mitram award. The award is planned as an annual one where exemplary services in the medical field upholding humanitarian values shall be identified, shortlisted and chosen for the title through a predefined process.’ – said BKS President, PV Radhakrishna Pillai. ‘The newly constituted Cancer Assistance Forum is the need of the hour as many among us are facing cancer-related issues and are badly in need of assistance. We at BKS, plan to extend all the possible support to the needy and poor cancer patients through this newly activated cell’ added Mr Pillai.
‘We had no second thought while finalizing the awardee from the potential list of candidates for this award. Dr VP Gangadharan is a proven oncologist whose selfless services have supported millions of hapless people suffering from Cancer.’ said BKS General Secretary, Varghese Karackal.
Dr VP Gangadharan is an Indian oncologist, known for his support to the poor and needy cancer patients. He was massively involved in the formation of Cochin Cancer Society, by coordinating people having experienced the ordeal of either having a cancer patient in their family or being a survivor of the disease. He is commonly known as “the Saint with Stethoscope”.
The first Arogya Mitram Award will be presented to Dr V.P. Gangadharan on 4th of October during a function at BKS. Dr Gangadharan and his wife, an Oncologist too, Dr Chithrathara has already flown into Bahrain to receive the award. The newly established Cancer Assistance Forum will get inaugurated in a common function held on the same day. Dr. Gangadharan and Dr, Chithrathara will be the Chief Guests ( Gurus) in the ‘Vidyarambam’ ceremony scheduled to be held early morning on 5th October where hundreds of kids are expected to be introduced to the world of learning.
The office bearers of BKS also announced that they are providing an opportunity for the cancer patients to meet Dr. Gangadharan and Dr. Chitrathara.
Other office bearers of the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam too were present during the press conference.
