Joe Biden keeps faith in Shefali Razdan; Indian-origin activist set for new assignment as US Envoy to Netherlands

Indian-origin political activist Shefali Razdan Duggal looks set to be appointed as US’s envoy to the Netherlands.

President Joe Biden’s office has confirmed the news. Earlier, Duggal has served as the National Co-Chair of Women for Joe Biden, and as a Deputy National Finance Chair at the Democratic National Committee.

White House broke this news along with announcements of several other administrative as well as diplomatic positions on Friday.

A mother of two, she is an experienced political activist, a women’s rights advocate, and a human rights campaigner.

Duggal is also a former Presidential Appointee to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council.

During the Barack Obama era too, Shefali Razdan Duggal was active in the 2008 Presidential campaign. Her appointment as an envoy came as no surprise given her expertise in the arena for a considerable period of time. She was also engaged in Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign, and was a member of Clinton’s campaign’s Northern California Steering Committee and the Women for Hillary Committee.

She holds a degree in Mass Communication at Miami University and has also received an MA in Political Communication from New York University.

Several civic awards, including the Western Regional Leadership Award by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum went to her. She was also recognised as a Community Hero by the California State Assembly.

Besides, Duggal has also received an award as one of the Most Powerful Women in California by the National Diversity Council.
