PhonePe has named Ritesh Pai as its CEO of transnational payments. Pai, a banking professional with over 25 years of experience, joins PhonePe from UK fintech TerraPay, where he was chairman of product and results for the last three years, overseeing the global launch and perpetration of payment products and results.
Prior to that, he served as Yes Bank’s elderly group chairman and principal digital officer for over five years.
His former experience includes elderly positions at Ratnakar Bank, REV Asia Pacific, Dresdner Bank, Fidelity National Information Systems, Kotak Mahindra Bank, BNP Paribas, and HDFC Bank.
In a media statement, PhonePe described Pai as a “seasoned digital payments sector leader.”
“Ritesh has been an early religionist and loyal supporter of the company and was veritably necessary in our early UPI success story,” says Sameer Nigam, CEO and author of PhonePe, adding that Pai will lead the company’s transnational expansion plans in his new role.
Pai commented on his new job, stating that PhonePe” has achieved request leadership in India” due to” product invention and structure client-centric results.”
“I’m confident that this same focus will help us expand our footmark beyond public borders, taking our payment technology to transnational followership,” he said.
PhonePe was invented in 2015 and is grounded in Bengaluru, India. It claims to have 500 million registered druggies and a network of 37 million merchandisers across the country. In 2023, the company raised $850 million in new finances, following a significant investment in the past.
