Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant international tour, which includes visits to Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. This tour aims to strengthen diplomatic relations, discuss global challenges, and enhance cooperation on various fronts.

The first leg of Prime Minister Modi’s journey will take him to Hiroshima, Japan, where he will attend the #G7Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. This event holds special significance for India, as it currently holds the G20 Presidency. Prime Minister Modi eagerly anticipates exchanging views with the G7 countries and other invited partners on the pressing challenges facing the world. Additionally, he plans to engage in bilateral meetings with several world leaders attending the summit.

Following the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi will embark on a historic visit to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. Here, he will host the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III Summit) in collaboration with Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea. The presence of all 14 Pacific Island Countries (PIC) at this summit is a testament to the significant role FIPIC has played in fostering regional cooperation since its inception during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Fiji in 2014. The discussions during the summit will focus on crucial issues such as climate change, sustainable development, capacity building, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development.

During his stay in Papua New Guinea, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to engage in bilateral meetings with distinguished leaders, including Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae and Prime Minister Marape. These meetings aim to deepen existing ties and explore avenues for further collaboration between the two nations.

Afterward, Prime Minister Modi will continue his tour by travelling to Sydney, Australia, at the invitation of Prime Minister Albanese. The bilateral meeting between the two leaders will provide an opportunity to review the progress made since the first India-Australia Annual Summit held in New Delhi earlier this year. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will interact with Australian CEOs and business leaders to explore avenues for economic cooperation and investment opportunities. A special event will also be organised to connect with the vibrant Indian community residing in Sydney.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s international tour underscores India’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships and addressing the shared challenges faced by the international community. Through these diplomatic engagements, Prime Minister Modi aims to forge closer ties, foster cooperation, and promote mutual understanding among nations.
