SA University: Admissions To The 2024–25 And New Programmes Begins

WFY Bureau New Delhi: South Asian University has begun the online admission process for the upcoming academic year 2024–25 for all programmes, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, integrated Master’s, MTech, and PhD. Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, President of the institution, released the admission brochure for the academic session 2024–25 at a reception held today at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club.

Beginning with the 2017 academic session, the university will offer new programmes in the Department of Computer Science, including BTech, Dual Degree (BTech+MTech), MTech, and integrated MSc+MTech. SAU intends to introduce more programmes in the near future.

The available programmes include Economics, Biotechnology, Computer Science, International Relations, Legal Studies, Mathematics, and Sociology. The admission exams for these programmes will take place on April 20th and 21st, 2024. This admission exam will be computer-based, with multiple-choice questions administered simultaneously throughout South Asia at selected sites. Applicants will be able to take the test during scheduled time slots at the test centres of their choosing.

Most programmes require an entrance exam; however, some BTech, MTech, Integrated, and PhD seats allow for direct admission. Certain categories of candidates are exempt from the entrance test in the direct mode of admission, and their scores in certain standard examinations, such as JEE, GATE, and JRF, along with their CVs/SOPs/research proposals/letters of recommendation, are used to shortlist them, and they are then called directly for the interview, where applicable.

The university provides scholarships and financial aid to a limited number of students based on their merit and finances. Students are also granted specifically designed visas.

South Asian University is a one-of-a-kind institution founded by the governments of the eight SAARC states. SAU has around half of its students from India, with the remaining half coming from the other SAARC countries, with the exception of a few students from other parts of the world. Each SAARC country has a quota of seats, but if the number of students from a specific country falls short of the given quota, students from other countries fill the remaining seats according to SAU guidelines. Applicants from non-SAARC nations can apply directly for admission, providing details of their academic credentials, without taking the entrance exam.

The deadline for submitting an online application on the university’s website, www.sau.int, is March 31, 2024. The admission brochure and other information are available on the university website.
