WFY Bureau Bahrain: The Indian Ladies Association of Bahrain organised the ILA Annual Day 2024 and Induction Ceremony on April 20, 2024, at the Al Murjan Ballroom, Movenpick Hotel.
Dr. Bahia Al Jishi, a distinguished individual, honoured the event with her presence. She has an impressive background, having served as the Bahraini Ambassador to Belgium, the European Union, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The prestigious Muslim World Rania Award recognised her significant contributions to women’s empowerment and diplomacy in 2024. Other notable attendees were Mr. Yusuf Lori, the Director of Information and Follow-up at the Capital Governorate; Ms. Basma Mubarak, a member of the Council of Representatives; and Mr. PV Radhakrishnapillai, a recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. The chief guests lit the lamp to inaugurate the programme. There was a large gathering of over 100 people, including family members, friends, the media, sponsors, and others.
The former president, Mrs. Sarada Ajith, gave a speech where she discussed the various activities and events that took place during her time in office. Members of ILA executed a high-energy dance routine. An acclaimed playback singer from India, Arvind Venugopal, captivated the audience with his mesmerising vocal performances of both soulful and popular Hindi songs from Bollywood, including his signature song “Nagumo.” At the conclusion of her term, President Mrs. Sarada Ajith expressed her gratitude by presenting mementos to the sponsors, Excom committee members, and subcommittee coordinators who had provided invaluable support and contributions throughout 2023. A badge-pinning ceremony took place. Every departing committee member proudly passed on the badge to their successor, fostering a strong sense of responsibility and honour.
President Sarada Ajith, Vice President Sunanda Gaikwad, Treasurer Kiran Mangle, General Secretary Dr. Tejender Kaur Sarna, Secretary Public Relations Raka Mukhopadhyay, and Secretary of Entertainment Kaihekushan led the team that concluded their term in 2023. Omar Kazi, membership secretary Anjana Mishra, serves as the Honorary Secretary of Operations, while Vijay Lakshmi Sharma is the Honorary Secretary of Activities. Pradnya Subandh is also involved in the organisation.
The new team for 2024 is headed by President Kiran Abhijit Mangle, Vice President Dr. Tejender Kaur Sarna, Treasurer Sheetal Shah, General Secretary Sarmistha Dey, Secretary of Public Relations Zamini Charak, and Secretary. Entertainment featuring Rrema Nair, Secretary of Membership Hello, Hilda! Elizabeth Lobo, Secretary of Operations Smitha Mathew and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur are the honorary secretary and activities coordinator, respectively.
The members and guests greatly appreciated the dinner in a warm and inviting atmosphere, followed by a delightful photoshoot.
