The Monkey and the Lion: A Beautiful Poem

The Monkey and the Lion: A Beautiful Poem

The Monkey and the Lion: A Beautiful Poem

There is this beautiful, dense, evergreen forest,
Hidden from the world and so not yet a target,
In it resides the macho royal king of the jungle,
Who never lets himself slip into any fumble,

As he had grown a bit too old, lonely and tired,
He felt it was high time that he had retired,
While he was in a pensive mood that morning,
There came a monkey that was just prowling.

But this monkey was lonesome and a sad one too,
He pulled the ears of the lion to see what it would do.
The lion woke up and roared with might and anger,
And asked who had invited his death from yonder.

The monkey said “I did that, your royal highness,
It’s the depression due lack of family and friends,
I wish to die, so why don’t you just kill me dear sir,
I could then pass to a better world my dear Monsieur.”

The lion asked with a laugh, “Did anyone see you?
Tell me the truth, only then will I annihilate you,”
Our monkey boldly and unhesitatingly said “no chief,
The world is right now not aware of my grief and motif.”

Oh then well, my dear friend, these big ears of mine,
Why don’t you pull them please, just one more time?
I am so bored, but this felt so damn amazingly good,
Once done I will let you into my home of Kingwood.

There we can spend our precious time in camaraderie,
And may be between us spice in loads of tomfoolery.

My dear readers, this poem is based on a story I read some time ago. The essence of this story, is that by living alone, even the King of the Forest gets bored. So stay in touch with your friends and family. Keep pulling their ears and legs, keep blabbering. Don’t be dull. Keep on having fun. Keep smiling. It will make their day. It will make your day.
