US professor’s statement against India and Indian Brahmin women drew flak not only from India but also from her colleagues.
Amy Wax, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law school, attacked Indian immigrants for being critical of the US. She also attacked by saying they were critical of the US while “their own country is a sh***hole”. Wax criticized South Asian Asians, specifically Indians.
She also lashed out Brahmin women from India, she said: “Here’s the problem. They (Brahmin women from India) are taught that they are better than everybody else because they are Brahmins Elite and yet, on some level, their country is a sh**hole”. They have realized that we have outgunned and outclassed them in every way. They feel anger. They feel envy, they feel shame… It creates ingratitude of the most monstrous kind,” The neurologist and Professor Wax said. Soon, the racist statement went viral on Twitter garnering a million views. While most were annoyed, they added that her remarks don’t come as a shock as she has a history of making racist remarks.
Her remarks drew flak from people in India but were also criticized by her colleagues and peers. “We are America, we’re committed to dismantling the system that gives your racist, moronic ideas a platform to spread”, said another lecturer.
