Indian Ladies Association Commemorates More Than 25 Years of Speak Easy English Classes

The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) announced the launch of its Speak Easy English Classes, highlighting over 25 years of dedication to empowering the community. The program, developed as part of ILA’s outreach initiative, seeks to provide low-income workers and ambitious individuals with the communication skills necessary to improve their career opportunities.

The two-month spoken English course, created by the Speak Easy Subcommittee, aims to assist participants from various nationalities in enhancing their fluency in English. The initiative, supported by a team of committed educators, consistently offers essential resources for both professional and personal development.

Distinguished Guests Ms Tosin Arowojolu, CEO/Founder of Leadership Excel Consultancy, and Mr. Sudheer Thirunilath, Director – Humanitarian Aid for the Middle East Region at the World NRI Council, as well as the Global PRO & Bahrain Chapter President of Pravasi Legal Cell, attended the launch, captivating attendees with their thought-provoking speeches.

The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) of Bahrain, founded in 1956 by the late Mrs. Leela Jashnamal and a group of visionary Indian women, has grown into one of the leading social and charitable organisations in the Kingdom. The acronym ILA has become a symbol of community service and cultural engagement across diverse communities in Bahrain. Recognised for its meticulously planned events and dedication to various philanthropic initiatives, the ILA has earned considerable esteem within the cultural and social fabric of the kingdom.

With the support of the Indian Embassy and the ambassador’s wife, the association caters to more than 200 members, offering a venue for discussing a variety of interests and issues. Members engage in a range of projects via sub-committees, such as visiting senior care homes and childcare centres, providing home-cooked meals and entertainment for expatriate workers, organising complimentary medical camps, and facilitating adult literacy initiatives. Monthly meetings encompass a variety of subjects, including cookery and healthcare, addressing the interests of members.

The ILA also boasts a vibrant Youth Wing that involves the children of members in fun activities and leadership development. The organization’s flagship initiative is “Sneha,” a centre dedicated to providing free support and services to children with special needs, irrespective of their nationality. The organisation is flourishing, receiving valuable support from Bahrain’s royal family and making substantial contributions to the community’s welfare.
