Indian origin Malaysian Reggae icon Sasi the Don says he’s proud of his Indian roots

Sasi’s latest track, Come follow me is all about his early years and musical influences that have shaped his career.

His earlier albums, ABCD with Anuradha Sriram, Daddy Don, Humpty Dumpty were runaway hits, as was his version of his chartbuster track Anbe. But now, celebrated Malaysian reggae icon, Sasi the Don is out with his new track, Come Follow Me. For the track, Sasi has collaborated with an array of renowned musicians, sound engineers, and Grammy nominee, Sasi. It was his Indian roots and love for music that resulted in this track, says Sasi.

“The song encourages people in strong positions to change and positively influence the lives of others,” Sasi said in an interview. He called working with the stellar ensemble an “enriching experience”. “Music is so powerful, it has the power to influence lives and make a difference,” he said in the interview. Sasi, whose great grandfather left Chennai in the early 1900s in a boat and reached Malaysia, settling there and prospering, says he is still in touch with his relatives hailing from Chennai and Bengaluru. “I am always proud of my roots,” he said, avering he loves Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Jackie Shroff and that he’d love to work with all of them if given an opportunity.
