Bihar Diwas 2022: Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan capital celebrates culture & history of the Indian state

Bihar Diwas was celebrated by Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent.

The four-day event that got underway from March 17 focused on culture, investment opportunities and tourism in the state.

The embassy, which collaborated with of Bihar government and the Economic Diplomacy Division of the ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, focused on presenting the state of Bihar to the business circles of Uzbekistan.

The colourful event showcased the cultural richness and history of Bihar. Uzbek businesses, journalists, academia, the Indian diaspora, and businesspersons attended the event.

Indian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat introduced the state of Bihar to the audience.

Uzbekistan Member of Parliament Mukhtor Umarov, who is also the president of the Exporters Association of Uzbekistan, and Shavkat Ismailovich, CEO of LAHISAM, a leading Uzbek pharmaceuticals company, graced the occasion.

The stressed the need to establish business relations between Uzbekistan and Bihar and identifying mutual strengths of their respective economies.

Ashok Tiwary, president of Tashkent India Club, an Indian diaspora organisation, also emphasised on growing India-Uzbekistan economic ties.

He also spoke on how Bihar will play a significant role in this.

The officials of the embassy highlighted investment and export policies of the Government of Bihar, the state’s culture and its tourism sector.

They came up with the idea of marketising products like mangoes and bananas, largely grown in Bihar, in Uzbekistan.

To cap it all, students of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Cultural Centre performed folk songs and dances.
