Second Grammy for Indian-origin musician Ricky Kej

Ricky says his win is because of his fans and colleagues, thanks them

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards, held on April 3 saw some of the biggest names in the music industry and Hollywood in attendance. But the awards ceremony also made India proud as two Indian origin artistes won Grammys that night. One was Falguni Shah, the Indian-American singer, who won in the Best Children’s Music category.

The other was Ricky Kej, who walked away with his second Grammy along with Stewart Copeland for Devine Tides in the Best New Age Album category.

The awards show honours some of the best talents from the global music fraternity, and Indians across the world send out congratulatory messages on social media for the two artistes. It was a proud moment, indeed.

Ricky’s winning speech included a word of gratitude for his fans and his co-collaborators and as he received the trophy, said, “Thank you to everyone who ever collaborated, hired, or listened to my music. I exist because of you.”

This is Ricky’s second Grammy – his first was for the album Winds of Samsara in 2015.
