The Powerful Lok Sabha Election Campaign Initiates In US Now

Along with the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party is one of the two largest political parties in India. It has been in power in India since 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is a volunteer paramilitary organisation with strong organisational and ideological ties to the BJP, which is associated with right-wing politics. Its policies follow the Hindu nationalist ideology known as Hindutva. In terms of seats in state legislatures and the Indian Parliament as of January 2024, it is the largest political party in the nation.

The Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which was established in 1951 by Indian politician Shyama Prasad Mukherjee as the political wing of the RSS after he quit the Hindu Mahasabha, is where the party got its start. Following the 1975–1977 Emergency, the Jana Sangh joined forces with multiple other political factions to establish the Janata Party, which emerged victorious in the 1977 general election against the incumbent Indian National Congress.
In 1980, the Janata Party came to an end after three years in office, and the former Jana Sangh members got back together to form the current BJP. It was not successful at first, winning only two seats in the 1984 general election, but gained momentum due to the Uttar Pradesh movement around Ram Janmabhoomi.

The BJP emerged as the biggest political party in Parliament in 1996, but it lacked a majority in the lower house, and its government, led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, lasted only 13 days. This was after the party won several state elections and performed better in the national elections.

Modi’s accomplishments are discussed. 3,000 people volunteered to help with the election. Modi Ki Guarantee, Mohalla Chai Pe Charcha, the Car Rally, and Holi Milan are among the scheduled events.

The Overseas Friends of the BJP in the US has launched its 2024 election campaign, promising to volunteer and contribute towards the aim of gaining 400 seats in the elections, coinciding with the BJP’s announcement of its initial list of 195 candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Varanasi native, is among the 51 candidates on the first list of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was revealed on Saturday.

Adapa Prasad, president of Overseas Friends of the BJP (OFBJP) USA, told PTI following the kick-off ceremony on Saturday in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC, that “the Indian Diaspora is going to support the BJP in India.”

Approximately one hundred OFBJP core members were present during the ceremony.

In order to choose 543 members of the Lok Sabha, general elections are anticipated to take place in India in April and May of 2024.

“We reviewed the progress in each of the states and had a detailed presentation on the achievements of the prime minister, Narendra Modi,” he stated.

Over 3,000 volunteers have registered so far for the numerous election-related events that OFBJP is organising.

This covers using social media, making phone calls, analysing voter data, running direct campaigns, and visiting India.

There are plans to make some 25 lakh phone calls from the US to India to persuade people to support the BJP and re-elect Prime Minister Modi for a third term in office.

A number of activities are being organised across the country, including contact centres and events like “Modi Ki Guarantee,”  “Mohalla Chai Pe Charcha,”  “Car Rally,”  and Holi Milan.
