World Water Day: Now You Know All About Its Date, History, and Significance
Here’s all you need to know about World Water Day 2024, from its date to its significance.
2024’s World Water Day: Water is vital to human survival.
In our everyday lives, water is an essential natural resource that we use for everything from drinking to cooking to taking baths.
The majority of the water we use for daily tasks is derived from groundwater. The availability of natural resources is crucial to maintaining our stable and healthy way of life.
Freshwater is ideal for maintaining good health. Water from freshwater keeps us fit, healthy, and excellent. The use of groundwater is growing as the population grows, but there is less water available.
Date: March 22nd is World Water Day every year. The big day falls on a Friday this year.
History: The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1993 that a day would be set aside to raise public awareness of the importance of fresh water conservation and its role in our daily lives. March 22 has been designated as World Water Day since 1993.
Significance: “World Water Day encourages action to address the global water crisis by celebrating water.” Supporting the accomplishment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6—water and sanitation for all by 2030—is a major objective of World Water Day. Every year on March 22, the United Nations observes World Water Day to raise awareness of the value of freshwater. UN-Water is in charge of the event.
