You Need To Know About The Citizenship Amendment Act That Has Now Been Implemented By The Center.

The 2019 Act aims to expedite the process of granting Indian citizenship to individuals who immigrated to India due to religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians.

Days before the dates for the Lok Sabha elections and the Model Code of Conduct’s implementation were announced, the Center on Monday made the guidelines under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) public.

For the convenience of the applicants, the Ministry of Home Affairs has already set up a portal; the whole process is completed online.

The Act, enacted In 2019, aims to expedite the process of granting Indian citizenship to individuals who immigrated to India due to religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. This includes Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians, excluding Muslims.Numerous factors, notably the loud demonstrations against the legislation in BJP-ruled states like Assam and Tripura, contributed to the delay in the Act’s implementation.

The Hindu communities in these states opposed the bill as well, believing it to be a way to justify the flood of Bangladeshi immigrants.
