Focus: You See How Dubai Celebrated Bharat Utsav

Dubai hosts the first Bharat Utsav to celebrate Independence Day and promote Indian culture.

Bharat Utsav is a celebration of the vibrant Indian diaspora. The festival’s principal objectives are to showcase the beauty of Indian culture and to offer a stage for various artistic endeavours.  

‘Bharat Utsav’, a three-day celebration of Indian art and tradition, got underway in Dubai. The celebration, which honours India’s Independence Day on August 15, seeks to highlight the vast cultural diversity of the nation.  

The festival’s first day featured pieces of art that represented each of the 27 Indian states, each of which was decorated with a special pattern. This demonstrated the diversity and inventiveness of India. The festival also included performances of classical Indian music, cultural displays, dances, and instrumental music from all throughout India.  

The event’s attendees included Rajya Sabha member Kartikeya Sharma, who stated, “The Bharat Utsav aims to connect our diverse traditions and the expatriate community in the UAE.” A member of parliament named Chirag Kumar Paswan echoed a similar opinion and emphasised the festival’s importance in fostering intercultural dialogue.  

With the support of the Indian Consulate General, the festival was given an additional boost of significance, enhancing its standing as a cultural compass. Chief event coordinators Vikas Bhargava, Chairman of GBF Middle East Chandrashekhar Bhatia, Deva Solanki, and Ira Bhargava were present for the occasion.
