Indian Diaspora Global: A Beacon of Indianism

At times we are a Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamilian, Malayali, etc. community, but at our core we are Indians, and that’s our inherent identity.

Indian Diaspora Global stands as a testament to Indian unity in diversity. Representing Indians from various states and cultural backgrounds, the organisation focuses on nurturing a sense of Indianism across the globe. Their vision is to use this collective identity to foster social change and community engagement.

Dual Citizenship: A Global Perspective

The campaign sheds light on a crucial issue: the loss of Indian nationality due to the country’s current stance on dual citizenship. In an era where international migration is commonplace, many Indians abroad face the heart-wrenching decision of giving up their Indian citizenship. This scenario is particularly pronounced in states with high emigration rates, like Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and the southern states. Countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia allow dual citizenship, enabling their citizens to enjoy bilateral benefits.

The Statistical Backdrop

Data reveals a growing trend of Indians opting for foreign citizenship, with around 4.5 lakh Indians doing so between 2014 and 2017. The Ministry of External Affairs reports an alarming increase in the number of Indians surrendering their citizenship, with over 1.63 lakh cases in 2021. This pattern underscores the urgency of addressing the dual citizenship issue.

Call to Action: Supporting the Cause

The Indian Diaspora Global urges the community to support this campaign, both through active involvement and financial contributions. The organisation aims to utilise these resources for organising seminars, conferences, and media outreach to effectively present their case to authorities and the public. Participation in this campaign is not just a contribution to a cause but a step towards preserving Indian identity globally.
