Mahika Gaur Being a wonderful player on the rise

Sport is an effective instrument that may be used to give women leadership abilities, eliminate marginalisation, and dispel misconceptions. Women should take part in athletics so they can learn about their physical capabilities and strengths. Women and girls can be empowered through sports (Puri, L., 2016). Sports can be used as a tool to empower women’s voices and dismantle gender stereotypes. Women who participate in athletics show that they are not weak or helpless. They display their athletic prowess, leadership qualities, and strategic thinking every time they kick a ball or clear an obstacle. Taking that further,

Mahika Gaur deviates from the norm for a 17-year-old.

Few cricketers, much less youngsters, can claim to have made two international debuts. Oh, and she’s 6 feet 3 inches tall, giving her the deadly height and speed that batters will eventually learn to fear.

At the age of 12, she made her debut for the United Arab Emirates against Indonesia in Bangkok. She also made her second on Thursday in England’s match at Hove versus Sri Lanka. Naturally, England only gave her one piece of advice: to remain true to herself and carry on with her past behaviour.

In her pre-game interview with Sky Sports, Gaur said, “England keeps reminding me that nothing changes. What I did to get here is what I need to do to go forward.

She struck Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu with a flawless late outswinger, giving the hosts a 12-run victory on DLS in a rain-affected match.

The seamer with the left arm will be anxious for another opportunity in the second game of the three-match series at Chelmsford on Saturday, live on Sky Sports from 2 p.m., after the weather prevented Gaur from having a satisfying full bowling performance (Sri Lanka’s reply was reduced to six overs).

When Gaur made her debut and finished with figures of 2-16 from two overs, England captain Heather Knight remarked, “Mahika was brilliant on debut.”

We had a little conversation before heading outside, and she was able to carry out our plan really skillfully. It’s amazing to watch her use all of her height to bowl a really fantastic bouncer there.

She is an excellent bowler, which is a little different for us.

“You don’t often see left-armers in women’s cricket with that kind of height, and the fact that she swings the ball late is a really great technique.

It was good to finally see her make her debut and experience some success because she is undoubtedly an exciting possibility.
