Prasar Bharati targets Indian diaspora, broadcasters of India and Australia join hands to expand reach

India-Australia cooperation is breaking grounds! As part of this arrangement, Doordarshan’s news content will now be available in Australia.

Prasar Bharati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) to boost co-operation in the field of broadcasting.

The understanding of two broadcasters has come good at a time when talks are on between two countries for a renewed cooperation.

Officials believe the move will not just strengthen the mutual relations between India and Australia, but will expand the reach of DD News, DD India and multiple language services of DD News amongst the Indian diaspora in Australia.

Through this understanding, the two broadcasters will explore opportunities in co-production and joint broadcasting of programmes spanning across multiple genres.

“This venture will allow for exchange of programmes, expertise in this sector and would facilitate daily slots on TV channels in Australia for DD India, DD News and DD Sahyadri,” Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.

There will also be exchange of programmes (Radio and Television content) in the fields of culture, education, science, entertainment, sports, news, travel, music and arts.

Both sides have agreed to exchange professionals and devise strategy to share knowledge on technical knowhow and event production.
