Sampriti was a mediocre student who failed physics and was advised by her teacher to become a housewife while growing up in Kolkata, India. Despite that, she decided to enrol in Jadavpur University’s engineering programme. Sampriti relocated to the United States from Kolkata, India, to complete her internship at Fermilab, where she worked as a research assistant. For Sampriti, it was love at first sight with physics.
She subsequently obtained a second internship with NASA, where she focused on robots and space exploration.
With just $200 in her pocket and a “doing hard things in life mentality,” she immigrated to the US permanently in 2010. She joined Ohio State University’s master’s programme.
