A Mesmerizing Evening of Carnatic Melodies
Manama, Bahrain – The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam was filled with the enchanting sounds of Carnatic music as the renowned Indian singer P. Unnikrishnan, accompanied by his daughter Uthara Unnikrishnan, showcased a stunning performance at the Indo Bahrain Dance and Music Festival.
The event, which took place last evening (May 8) at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall, was a celebration of cultural heritage and youthful vitality.
The father-daughter duo captivated the audience with their renditions of classical and semi-classical vocals, showcasing the depth and versatility of Carnatic music.
Their performance was a highlight of the festival, illustrating the beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. P. Unnikrishnan’s profound experience and Uthara’s fresh perspective created a unique synergy that resonated with the diverse audience.
The festival continues to charm art music enthusiasts with today’s (May 9) event featuring acclaimed dancers – Anita, Priyadarshini Govind and Vidya Subrahmanian, performing Indian classical dances Mohiniyattom and Bahratnatyam. The performance is scheduled to begin at 7.30 PM at the same venue.
The BKS Indo Bahrain Dance and Music Festival is a testament to the strong cultural bonds between Bahrain and India, and the power of music and dance to unite people across borders.
Supported by the Indian Embassy and the Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities, the festival is a brainchild of the founder of Soorya, the acclaimed stagecraft and Indian director, Soorya Krishnamoorthy.
The finale of the festival on May 10 (Friday) will feature a Carnatic classical Violin recital by renowned Indian musician Dr L Subrahmaniam.
The festival is open to all and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their seats, said organisers.
