Ambassador Shrivastava lauds the contributions of Indian Diaspora

Bahrain has a vibrant Indian Diaspora community”, said Piyush Shrivastava, Indian Ambassador to Bahrain while addressing the expatriates during a webinar organised by Pravasi Legal Cell, Bahrain Chapter. The webinar was organised to provide awareness and empower the expatriates regarding the legal issues.

HE Ambassador, Piyush Shrivastava was invited as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural speech, he spoke about the system of emigration, pre departure orientations training program instituted by govt. and various other schemes like Pravasi Bharatiya Insurance Schemes of the Government of India.

Ambassador Shrivastava applauded the multilingual program wherein people could ask their queries in their respective languages and seek legal remedies for the same.

Despite the pandemic, Bahrain remains a very easy place for expats to settle in, according to the survey. The country was ranked fifth globally for ease of settling in and most expats (87 percent) find it easy to live in Bahrain without speaking the local language, compared with 54 percent globally. Bahrain is built on generations of Islamic traditions which are rooted firmly in its culture and tribal heritage. These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and form the cornerstone of everyday life for Bahraini family. Bahrainis are friendly people who show tolerance and an open-minded approach to visitors in their country; but Bahraini culture and values should always be respected. The culture and laws in Bahrain are designed to ensure that everyone is respectful of each other regardless of their faith and nationality. Visitors and residents alike should avoid conduct and behaviour which might be perceived as breaching these norms as it may lead to prosecution resulting in fines, imprisonment and deportation.

There are legal issues resulting out of overstaying in the Kingdom, contracts of the employ and employee, expats committing a crime as per the law of the Kingdom. Many such issues were discussed in the webinar highlighting the perspective of law in this regard.

Adv. Madhavan  Kallath spoke about Bahrain laws regarding  illegal stay in the country, visit visa, employee employer contracts, Domestic Workers issue, Leave Salary, Indemnity and so on. PLC Global President Adv Jose Abraham spoke about the Indian laws and also about the Expats facing problems like property issues in India, appointing an advocate for a legal case while staying abroad.

Jose Abraham, Adv Madhavan Kallath ( Legal advisor, Kallath and DBI WLL), Pravasi Legal Cell Global Spokesperson, Melwyn Williams, Sudheer Thirunilath, Country Head of Pravasi Legal Cell  Bahrain Chapter, Amal Dev Bahrain Coordinator, General Secretary Sushma Gupta, Governing Council Members Mr. Senthil Kumar, Mr. Haribabu, Mr. Ganesh Murthy  presided over the webinar.
