Here you see : Researchers Now developed A Novel Way To Reduce Global Warming.
Another gas that is categorized as a greenhouse gas and contributes to the greenhouse effect is water vapor, which is mostly found in the atmosphere.
One important contributor to the Earth’s greenhouse effect is water vapor, which acts as an amplifier to intensify the planet’s warming. NASA estimates that in the absence of greenhouse gases, the Earth’s surface would be around 59 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius) colder. One natural mechanism that keeps Earth’s temperature within a livable range is the greenhouse effect. However, human activities like the combustion of fossil fuels and deforestation have been causing the surface temperature to rise recently, which is known as global warming. By lowering the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere, scientists have now discovered a new method for cooling an overheated planet.
Researchers at NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intend to inject ice high into the atmosphere to make the upper atmosphere’s water vapor a little bit drier, which could partially offset the warming brought on by human activity, according to a study published in Science Advances.
The most recent addition to what some scientists are referring to as a last-ditch toolbox of strategies to combat climate change by altering the planet’s atmosphere or seas is the notion of drying the upper atmosphere. Known as “geoengineering,” it is frequently disapproved of due to possible adverse effects and is typically discussed in addition to emission reductions rather than as a substitute for lowering carbon pollution.
We are not even in a position to put this into practice at this time. Lead author of the study and NOAA physicist Joshua Schwarz stated, “This is about identifying research directions and exploring what might be possible in the future.”
The Scheme :
In order to inject ice particles below the stratosphere, where the air slowly rises, which is approximately 11 miles (17 km) above the ground, climate scientists intend to use sophisticated aircraft. The stratosphere is then made less humid by the ice and cold air rising to the lowest point on the temperature scale, which causes the water vapor to freeze and fall.
In what way will that be helpful?
At full capacity, injecting two tons each week, it might be able to remove enough water vapor to somewhat lessen heating, or roughly five percent of the total warming caused by carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels. However, the study also noted that it is insufficient and shouldn’t be utilized in place of reducing pollution.
How Is Heat Trapped by Water Vapour?
Although water vapor is a type of greenhouse gas that is mostly found in the atmosphere, NASA claims that it is not the primary cause of the planet’s present warming. Rather, it is an outcome of it.
As atmospheric concentrations of CO2 and methane rise due to increased evaporation, water vapor is produced. Considering Warmer air has a higher moisture content, which raises the concentration of water vapor in it. This occurs specifically because, at higher temperatures, water vapor does not condense and precipitate out of the atmosphere as readily.
The heat emitted from Earth is subsequently absorbed by the water vapor, preventing it from escaping into space. The EPA referred to this as a “positive feedback loop” since it causes the atmosphere to warm even more and release more water vapor.
