‘Indian Drake’ Diljit Dosanjh announces world tour

There will be stops in Canada and the US and this world tour is over and above the three scheduled shows in the UK later this year

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh often referred to as ‘Indian Drake’ by the international media for his rapping prowess, has announced the ‘Born to Shine’ world tour. Diljit posted this information on his Instagram account, complete with dates. He also said that there will be stops in Canada and the United States – places where most of his fans reside.

The tour, presented by Live Nation, will kick off in Vancouver on June 19 and end in Oakland, CA, on July 29. Apart from this, Diljit also has scheduled three different shows for the UK later this year.

In March 2022, the 38-year-old Diljit signed with Warner Music. Diljit started out in 2004 with the album Ishq Da Uda Ada. Back 2 Basics his 2012 album reached #11 on the Billboard World chart, and his 2018 CON.FI.DEN.TIAL was #2 on the New Zealand Recorded Music NZ chart. The G.O.A.T. in 2020 and MoonChild Era in 2021 both charted on the UK Albums Download Chart (#47, #41) and Canadian Albums Chart (#16, #32), respectively.

Also, a well-known Punjabi actor, Diljit starred in and produced the 2021 Punjabi romantic comedy, Honsla Rakh, which was filmed entirely in Vancouver. The film broke many records and became the ‘highest-opening Punjabi film ever’, according to Box Office Worldwide, grossing USD 7.59 million. Apart from numerous Filmfare and PTC Punjabi Film Awards, Diljit was the recipient of the Punjabi International Film Academy Award for Best Actor in 2012. His next film, Shikra is slated for an Indian release in June 2022. Diljit lives with his wife, Sandeep Kaur and their son in the United States.
