Numerous users have reported experiencing disruptions on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Meta, as users are being removed from their accounts.

Thousands of users have reported problems this afternoon, and four of the most popular apps are currently unavailable.

People are reporting problems with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp—all owned by Meta—while there are also rumors of a downtime with the Google app. Over 150,000 users have reported having trouble accessing Facebook in the last hour, according to DownDetector, and 25,000 users have reported experiencing problems with Instagram.

More than 6,000 complaints have been made about the downtime on Facebook Messenger, which is adjacent. When customers discovered they were being logged out of their accounts while attempting to utilize the apps, issues started to arise.

DownDetector reports that over 300 people have reported issues with WhatsApp, while 219 users have reported issues with Google in the last hour. It’s unclear if the bugs in the apps that Meta owns are related.

The problems started at approximately 15:20 PM GMT and are affecting users of the websites and the apps. The apps impacted thus far are:

Instagram

WhatsApp

Facebook Messenger

Instagram

Google

TikTok

Snap Chat

The majority of issues with the Meta apps seem to be occurring in the United States, specifically in New York City, Boston, Chicago, and the West Coast. But there have also been some issues abroad, particularly in the UK.

According to reports, the applications are the main source of problems: 72% for Facebook, 64% for Instagram, and 50% for Messenger.
