Mukesh Ghiya, is the new Head of Chancery, Indian High Commission, Wellington
Ghiya, has served in various Indian missions abroad, including Angola, UK, Papua New Guinea, Ukraine and Iran.
Before coming to New Zealand, he was attached to the Nepal and Bhutan desk in the Ministry and was posted at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi.
The Indian High Commission is shifting from the current location at Lambton Quay to brand new premises in Wellington Central.
Ghiya has fond memories of his previous posting to Papua New Guinea.
Ghiya, is from Rajasthan. He is a post-graduate in Mathematics from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. His wife Shashi has also accompanied him to Wellington. He has three children, daughter Yagya and two sons Tanmay and Vaaman. Yagya is continuing her studies in India, pursuing B.Tech while his two sons have enrolled into Wellington College.
Ghiya has expressed that his priorities would be to enhance the economic, commercial, cultural and scientific relations between India and New Zealand. He further added that he is committed to work for the welfare of Indian nationals residing in New Zealand.
