Today is the first day of a new month, and the world around us is full of difficulties and changes. The things that happen in front of our eyes shape our lives all the time, from political changes to social injustices. As members of the Indian Diaspora, we see these world events from a different angle, which helps us understand them better. Our views and experiences are the keys to making the future better for everyone, from the polls to the battlefield.
We’ve seen how hard it is for the news media business over the past few months. Billionaires, who are often seen as heroes, have not come up with a long-term answer. We need to understand that the real answer lies within us, make sure the truth comes out, and make sure justice is done.
Gender inequality is one of the most important problems the world is facing right now. Even though half of the world’s people are women and girls, social growth has stopped. What is happening in Afghanistan is a good example of this. Since the Taliban took back power, women are not allowed to work for non-governmental organisations, and girls are not allowed to attend school.
February 6 is celebrated as the International Day of Zero Tolerance as a response to female genital mutilation. Even though people have been trying for years to get rid of this evil, it still exists. We want everyone to recommit to protecting the rights, health, and honour of girls and women all over the world. In order to make the world a better place to live, we should work towards ending this terrible abuse and ensuring basic human rights.
In the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), there are still big differences between men and women. Even though more women are going to college, the number of women working in STEM fields is still frighteningly low. On February 11, let’s honour and enjoy the things that women and girls have done in science. We should also be aware of the problems they face and work to solve them.
It’s impossible to ignore how important social justice is. It is a very important part of keeping the peace and keeping countries safe. Let us say again that we will value all human rights and basic freedoms on February 20, which is World Day of Social Justice. We can make the world a better place for everyone.
The 2024 US presidential election is also a big deal on the other side of the world. With more and more political power, Indian Americans have a big say in how American politics will go in the future. But problems like not having a well-known name, politics, and rising anti-immigrant feelings keep them from reaching their full potential. Let this serve as a reminder of how important their opinions are and how important it is to work together, even if they have different policy views.
We celebrate the achievements of the Indian diaspora around the world as we think back on the recent Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. It’s a powerful reminder of how close India is to people all over the world on this day. Let’s value and develop these connections, encouraging people from different countries to work together.
The recent Republic Day celebration in India witnessed massive women power in all spheres of our day-to-day lives as a community and nation.
People in the middle class are looking forward to India’s much-anticipated financial budget. People want lower income taxes, more job chances, more affordable housing, better education, better health care, and more infrastructure development in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. This budget isn’t just a plan for the economy; it also shows what we want and what we hope for. Let’s keep a close eye on when it’s announced and make sure our leaders are meeting the wants of the people.
Our job hasn’t changed, no matter who we are or where we come from. We need to look into things, show what’s really going on, and hold influential and powerful people responsible. We can make the future better for everyone if we work together.
