Official: Thampi Gets The Popular “BKS Viswakalaratna Award” This Year
Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) will present the “BKS Viswakalaratna Award” to Sreekumaran Thampi.
Manama, Bahrain: Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) is set to honour the acclaimed Malayalam film industry veteran, Sreekumaran Thampi, with the prestigious “BKS Viswakalaratna Award” on Friday, September 15, 2023. The ceremony will be held at the BKS premises as part of the Sravanam 2023 Onam Celebrations.
The “BKS Viswakalaratna Award” is named in commemoration of the late M. P. Raghu, a revered member of BKS known for his years of dedicated service. BKS President P.V. Radhakrishna Pillai spoke about the significance of the award, stating, “The ‘BKS Viswakalaratna’ is our annual tribute to those icons who have made noteworthy contributions to the Malayalam Film Industry. It is named after the late M.P. Raghu, a stalwart of our organisation, to honour his remarkable legacy.”
Esteemed guests, including Saji Cherian, the Honourable Minister of Culture from the Government of Kerala, and Jayashankar Viswanathan, COO of the UNEECO Group, will be present at the event. They will join BKS members and film industry stakeholders in paying homage to Sreekumaran Thampi’s accomplishments.
Following the award presentation, attendees can enjoy an enchanting “Bollywood Night” musical concert. Renowned singer K.S. Chithra and her ensemble will captivate the audience with a selection of popular Hindi movie songs.
