Hello New Year

A Poem By Sudha Mukhopadhyay | Art & Culture | The WFY Magazine, January, 2026 Anniversary Edition

Ring in the new year, ring out the old,
Ring in the joy and see happiness unfold.
There always was and always will be,
Stories and memories of the highest degree.

When I was young I saw fairies and angels,
That my mom would read to me from fables.
I lived in my home filled with love and hope,
Emotions that I captured in my own bioscope.

See the world we must with a good heart,
But as we grow old we must play it smart.
We get what we give to others around us,
That is how we get to feel oh so gorgeous.

Come let us make each other happy and proud,
This is the time before we are covered in shroud.
Ring in the new year, ring out the old,
Ring in the joy and see happiness unfold.

It is a couplet rhyme scheme where the first line rhymes with the second line and the third line rhymes with the fourth line.
