Present tense, future uncertain: 2,000 Indian students grope in the dark after 3 colleges down shutters in Canada
In February, as many as three colleges in Canada downed shutters, causing furore among Indian students. The institutes abruptly closed after demanding students to pay up hefty amount of fees.
Many of the students in these three Canadian colleges were Indians, who were forced to stare at uncertain future following the closure.
More than 2,000 Indian students from M College in Montreal, CDE College in Sherbrooke, and CCSQ College in Longueuil are up in arms against the move. They are taking out rallies, raising slogans to make their voices heard to the Canadian government for immediate measures.
College authorities had issued a notice to the students earlier in February informing that they were going to shut down altogether.
The decision shocked Indian students. They started panicking and rushing to the Indian High Commission in Ottawa for help.
Students alleged that many of them were forced to pay huge amount of fees to the colleges without prior indication or warning. At this juncture, they demanded the Canadian government to intervene and help them complete their courses.
